Employee permissions — what a person can do, store by store

The Permissions tab on the employee card decides what a person can actually do in SightHub. The job title on their record is only a label; this tab is where access is given.

Permissions are set per store. A front-desk person who works at two stores needs permissions at both — what they can do at one store says nothing about the other.

Opening a store's permissions

  1. Open the person's card and go to the Permissions tab.
  2. Pick a store under Select Store.
  3. The blue band reads Permissions for store name, and the permission blocks load underneath.

Nothing shows until a store is picked.

Switching a permission on or off

Each block is a card full of switches, one per permission. Green is on, red is off.

A switch saves the moment you flip it — there is no Save button on this tab. The card shows Saving... while it goes through, then a Permissions updated successfully toast. If the server refuses, its reason is shown in a red toast — but the switch stays where you flipped it, so refresh the page to see the real state.

Some permissions have a time window. When one of these is on, two small buttons appear next to its switch:

A newly switched-on permission of this kind starts on 24h.

Click the other button to change the window; it saves straight away too.

Same — copying a whole profile from another store

Setting dozens of switches by hand for a new store is slow. If the person already has the right set-up at another store, copy it.

  1. Pick the store you want to fill under Select Store.
  2. Press Same in the blue band.
  3. In Inherit permissions from another store, choose the store under Copy from. Into shows the current store.
  4. Press Preview changes. You see exactly what will be added: store-level permissions first (Showcase (store-level)), then each warehouse. Each line is either new (green tick) or already active (grey). The footer counts +N new grants.
  5. Press Apply.
  6. The window shows Profile inherited with how many permissions were copied, and an Undo button. A toast with Undo also appears for a few seconds.

Same only adds. It never switches anything off at the target store. If there is nothing new to add, the preview says Nothing to change — the employee already has this profile at that store and Apply stays grey.

Undo takes back exactly the permissions that copy added. Anything you changed by hand after the copy is left alone, and the toast tells you how many were left as they were.

After a copy, the blue band shows a badge Inherited from store name, so the next manager can see where the profile came from.

The same copy can also be offered from the staff schedule when you give someone a shift at a store they have no access to.

The blocks

The switches inside each block come from the server, so the exact list can grow over time. What each block is for:

Location permissions

The person's basic access to this store. It includes Set Store — switching to this store from the sidebar. Without it, changing store fails with You don't have the "Set Store" permission.

Warehouse Permissions

One switch per warehouse of this store. On means the person can work with that warehouse's stock.

Super Admin Permissions

Three blocks for managers only:

Other Permissions

What a person sees when a permission is missing

SightHub tells the person exactly which switch they lack and where a manager turns it on. For example:

You don't have the "Create Task" permission. Ask a manager to enable it in Employees → Permissions → Tasks permissions.

On the daily reports the whole report is replaced by a No access to this report box naming the permission, for this store. On the marketing report: You don't have access to the marketing reports. Ask a manager to grant them in your employee permissions (Marketing Reports: Referral Source, Visit Reasons).

When someone reports one of these messages, open their card, pick the store they were working in, find the block named in the message, and switch the permission on.
